History of a passion

Foundation

Every story has a beginning. Daniel Gex's story began in the 1980s, at the dawn of his 25th year, when he discovered the fascinating world of rare stones thanks to his numerous trips around the world, in particular to India, Nepal and South-East Asia. From that moment on, a deep passion for jewellery and gems was born, which led him to develop a real know-how in terms of creation.

The beginnings of distribution

In 2000, Gexist was born, a jewellery manufacturing and distribution company in the town of Martigny, Valais. In 2003, the constant success of the Gexist brand allowed the three Daniel Gex sisters to join the company, which then became a family business.

Exclusive collection

In 2016, the new "Swiss Edelweiss" collection was born, the result of a collaboration with talented designers and renowned cut-out artists. Gexist is always on the lookout for new designs to continue these exclusive and original lines which evolve over the years motivated by the success met with the public.

Expansion and reputation

The Gexist parent company is located in Martigny, in the heart of the Swiss Alps. Its original, modern and constantly renewed collections were quickly recognized. Gexist has positioned itself as a renowned brand on the national and international jewellery market.

Philosophy

Gexist's philosophy is and always will be: honesty, integrity, respect. Our foreign-made jewellery is sold in our country, in Europe and worldwide and is produced to the highest Swiss quality standards.

We make it a point of honour to respect nature and mankind, ensuring that we work with environmentally friendly materials and considering the people who work in the workshops, which often belong to family businesses. We take care that there is no exploitation of children for example.

Research, development, design, quality and production

Design, research and development are always done in Switzerland. We work with artists, graphic designers, art cutters, gem setters and jewellers based in Switzerland.

Once the development is complete and the designs are made, we pass them on to our workshops. We attach the greatest importance to a high quality of production by paying particular attention to all the stages of manufacture.

Some of the production steps are carried out abroad. On the one hand to use the local know-how of certain regions, but also to allow us to offer you jewellery at affordable prices. Some jewellery, such as the rings in the Swiss Edelweiss collection, may require up to 10 different operations (moulding, finishing, etc.).

Gexist jewellery is made to the highest Swiss quality standards. Several times a year, Daniel travels all over Switzerland and abroad to find new stones and also to supervise certain stages of the manufacturing process.

We regularly check that the working conditions are respected and optimal in our workshops abroad.

In our workshops in Switzerland, we also carry out other operations: repairs, ring size adjustments, special jewellery manufacturing according to particular customer wishes, unique pieces, estimations, etc.

Gexist jewellery made abroad is sold in Switzerland, Europe and the world according to the highest Swiss quality standards. Several times a year, Daniel travels to South East Asia to purchase stones and to develop his new collections in his various workshops.
